Josh Allen’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Williams has claimed that her Instagram account was “hacked” after a harsh comment about the Buffalo Bills quarterback surfaced online, leading to widespread attention. In an Instagram Story shared on Friday, Williams addressed the situation, alleging that she had lost control of her social media.
“My accounts have been hacked several times tonight,” she wrote. “Trying to get it resolved. If anyone has any tips, please let me know.”
The post came in response to fans sharing screenshots of an alleged comment made from her account, in which Allen, 28, was referred to as a “brain dead CTE athlete” shortly after news of his engagement to actress Hailee Steinfeld was announced on Friday.
The alleged comment from Williams appeared to be in response to a trolling message about her personal life. One social media user had reportedly taunted her by saying, “Haven’t found the next pro athlete yet????”
Williams allegedly fired back with a stinging retort, stating, “Luckily my boyfriend owns a team and doesn’t play for one. I don’t have to be with another brain dead CTE athlete.”

CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is a brain condition associated with the degeneration of nerve cells, as described by Cleveland Clinic.
It is believed to be caused by repeated head trauma and has been linked to athletes involved in high-contact sports, including football, boxing, and hockey, although research is still ongoing. The comment seemed to draw on the connection between CTE and football players, adding to the controversy.
The identity of Williams’ current boyfriend remains unclear, and neither her representative nor Allen’s representative immediately responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
Brittany Williams and Josh Allen had known each other since childhood and had been in a relationship for nearly a decade before breaking up in early 2023. Following the end of their long-term romance, Allen began dating actress Hailee Steinfeld later that same year.
In May 2023, a source for Page Six spotted the couple enjoying a romantic sushi date in New York City, where they were seen packing on the PDA.
Allen and Steinfeld made their relationship Instagram-official a year into their romance, with a post shared in July 2024, making it clear they were happily together.
On Friday, Allen and Steinfeld shared exciting news with their fans as they announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post.
The post featured a single photo of Allen down on one knee in front of Steinfeld, with their foreheads pressed together in a tender pose.
The picturesque proposal took place under an archway adorned with pink flowers on a waterfront property, setting a romantic scene. They captioned the post simply with heart emojis and the date: “?? 11•22•24 ??.”
The news of their engagement was well-received by fans, though it seems to have sparked some drama in Williams’ social media world.
Whether the controversial comment truly came from her or was the work of a hacker remains a point of speculation, but the incident has certainly kept fans talking about the latest twist in the saga involving Josh Allen’s past and present relationships.
