Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen recently addressed and clarified comments he made earlier this week regarding his current teammates, which some perceived as a dig at former teammate Stefon Diggs.
Earlier in the week, Allen sparked conversation following Buffalo’s dominant victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football. In a postgame interview, Allen mentioned how it’s a “wonderful thing when you’ve got a bunch of guys that don’t care about the stats, don’t care about the touchdowns.” This statement led to speculation among fans and media that Allen may have been subtly criticizing Diggs, who was known for his fiery personality and desire for the ball.
On Wednesday, however, Allen set the record straight. “I know there’s a lot of people talking out there,” Allen said, according to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg. “Again, I’m not trying to tear down anybody.” He emphasized that his comments were not intended to disparage Diggs or anyone else, and he expressed frustration with the narrative surrounding his words.
“Again, I love 14 (Diggs). I still do,” Allen continued. “But everyone wants to keep making this thing a thing. We’re so focused on what’s going on inside of our building, and that’s the only thing we’re caring about right now.”
Diggs, who spent four productive seasons with the Bills, was traded to the Houston Texans this offseason in a high-profile move. Despite the end of their on-field partnership, Allen’s respect and admiration for Diggs remain evident, and he reiterated his commitment to keeping the focus on the team’s current success.

Buffalo’s offense has been on fire to start the season, and Allen has made it a point to spread the ball around. In fact, six different players have already caught touchdowns this season, underscoring the team’s balance and depth. According to advanced statistics from Ben Baldwin’s database, Buffalo’s offense ranks first in both EPA/play and success rate, a testament to the effectiveness of Allen’s leadership and the overall cohesion of the team.
“We’re building each other up right now, and that’s all we’re trying to do,” Allen explained. “We’re trying to stay together as a team, and we really care about each other. Everybody in this building’s got that feeling.”
Allen’s personal performance has been stellar through the first three games of the season. He leads the NFL in passer rating (133.7) and quarterback rating (92.6), all while not throwing a single interception. His ability to manage the game and distribute the ball has been key to the Bills’ early success, and the chemistry with his current group of receivers is undeniable.
As the Bills prepare to face the 1-2 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, Allen’s leadership and focus on team unity remain critical to their continued success.
The 3-0 Bills are looking like one of the strongest teams in the league, and Allen is making it clear that their goal is to keep winning, without getting caught up in outside distractions or narratives.
