Jonathan Owens may be somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, but he’s still keeping a close eye on his wife Simone Biles’ competitions in Paris.
The NFL player, who received special permission to miss part of the Chicago Bears training camp to support Biles at the 2024 Olympics, shared a screenshot featuring an X post with the gymnast’s scores from the vault final on August 3.
For Biles’ first vault — the Biles II, a Yurchenko double pike vault — she earned a score of 15.700 with a difficulty level of 6.400. Her second vault, the Cheng vault, scored 14.900 with a 5.600 difficulty level. Her average score was 15.300, ultimately earning her the gold medal.
“Even on the flight back!!!! Can’t miss it!!! Another gold on the way!!!!” Owens wrote on his Instagram Stories, adding several emojis, including the gold medal icon.
After Biles secured first place, Owens reshared Team USA’s celebratory Instagram post. “Another gold,” he wrote alongside it, adding, “the best ever,” with a goat emoji, symbolizing the Greatest of All Time.
Biles has now won three gold medals at these Paris Games. She finished first in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around and also earned gold in the women’s team final with fellow U.S. gymnasts Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera.
Owens was in attendance for both the team and all-around finals earlier during the 2024 Summer Games.
Owens previously expressed to PEOPLE how thrilled he was to watch Biles compete in Paris. “It’s super exciting just because I get a chance to see all the work that she puts in prior to, and you know what? Everything she goes through and dealing with the media and everything, and she still goes out there and does it,” Owens said.
The football star missed seven preseason practices for the Games, but Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said the decision was straightforward “just because we respect the Olympics,” according to ESPN. “That is a big deal. And he’s just supporting the one he loves the most. And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that.”
Biles and Owens met and started dating in March 2020, eventually getting married at a Houston courthouse in April 2023. They celebrated with their loved ones at a larger wedding a few weeks later in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
