ESPN’s College GameDay kicked off the college football season with a special appearance by legendary quarterback Johnny Manziel as the celebrity guest picker for Week 1. The popular pregame show set up shop in College Station, Texas, in anticipation of the Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame showdown on Saturday evening. Although the Aggies ultimately fell to the Fighting Irish with a 23-13 loss, Manziel’s appearance on College GameDay was a highlight of the day.
Despite the disappointing result for Texas A&M, Manziel enjoyed his time on set, bringing his signature energy and charm to the show. The Heisman Trophy winner, who became a household name during his time with the Aggies, relished the opportunity to return to College Station and be part of the College GameDay festivities.
Joining Manziel in the spotlight was his girlfriend, Josie Canseco, the daughter of famed Oakland A’s slugger Jose Canseco. Josie made waves of her own at the game, turning heads with her stylish, Johnny Manziel-inspired outfit. Her game day look quickly went viral on social media, where she shared a post captioned “Gig ’em,” showing her support for the Aggies and her beau.
Manziel and Canseco have been dating for a few months, with rumors about their relationship first sparking earlier this year. Since then, the couple has been seen together frequently, and they appear to be going strong.

While Manziel and Canseco enjoyed the game day atmosphere, the focus on the field was on Notre Dame and their head coach, Marcus Freeman. The Fighting Irish, ranked No. 7 in the nation, may not have delivered the most aesthetically pleasing performance, but they secured the victory nonetheless.
“Man, that was a huge victory for our program over a really, really good football team,” Freeman said after the game. “That is an impressive football team. … It wasn’t pretty. The defense played lights out, [forced] turnovers.”
Despite the loss, the presence of Johnny Manziel and Josie Canseco added an extra layer of excitement to the game day experience in College Station. As the season progresses, fans will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on both the Aggies’ performance on the field and the budding romance between Manziel and Canseco.
