Whenever Stephen A. Smith makes an appearance on First Take, sports enthusiasts can expect some fiery debates. It’s no surprise then that things got a little uncomfortable between Smith and former NBA player JJ Redick.
Redick appeared to disagree with Smith’s viewpoint, leading to a heated exchange, and even Molly Qerim had difficulty intervening and changing the topic.
The incident was captured on video, with ESPN colleague Brian Windhorst laughing at their bickering.

Redick has a history of engaging in arguments with Smith and other pundits, and he does a fantastic job providing basketball analysis. However, Smith’s continuous and unwavering chatting seems to bother JJ Redick, and he never hesitates to challenge Smith’s assertions.
In this instance, Redick questioned why the Lakers were being praised after losing four straight games in the Western Conference Finals, when the Nuggets had the league’s best player. Regardless, Redick’s straightforwardness and willingness to challenge people adds entertainment value to First Take.
