Travis Kelce’s popularity has seemingly reached its zenith.
Not only did the NFL tight end recently prompt Taylor Swift to tweak some of her lyrics during a tour, but he has also captured the attention of Jimmy Fallon, who is now composing songs inspired by Kelce’s charming online moments.
Just after fans uncovered some of the 34-year-old’s heartwarming old tweets, Fallon, aged 49, teamed up with rapper Black Thought to present “The Ballad of Travis Kelce” on The Tonight Show last Friday. The performance featured the duo creating verses for Kelce’s amusing past tweets, covering topics like squirrels, Dave and Busters, Taco Bell, and the joys of taking naps.
ravis Kelce’s prolific tweeting days were revisited in song by Black Thought, 52 (real name Tariq Trotter), and Jimmy Fallon. The musical journey began with Black Thought stating, “Travis used to tweet a lot, nah, he wouldn’t quit,” followed by Fallon interjecting with a rhyming Kelce classic: “I just gave a squirrel a piece of bread and it straight smashed all of it.”
This opening sequence set the stage for a call-and-response performance between Fallon and The Roots rapper, offering viewers a glimpse into Kelce’s past on X (formerly Twitter) from a decade ago.
“Sometimes he was really deep, the whole world he’d inspire,” rapped Black Thought, followed by Fallon adding a Kelce quote: “The most powerful weapon on this earth is the human soul on fire!”
The duo continued to portray Kelce’s online persona, highlighting both profound and lighthearted moments, such as his musings on Taco Bell and Olive Garden. Closing the song in unison, Black Thought said, “Nowadays, we’re reading every little thing he writes,” with Fallon chiming in with another Kelce tweet: “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.”
