Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, has faced challenges related to his wealth and race, according to his recent comments. In an interview on Real Sports with Andrea Kramer, Irsay suggested that he believes he was unfairly targeted and arrested for driving under the influence in 2014 because of his status as a rich, white billionaire.
While acknowledging his privileged position, Irsay asserted that if he were an average person, he wouldn’t have been subjected to the same treatment. He stated, “I am prejudiced against because I’m a rich, white billionaire. If I’m just the average guy down the block, they’re not pulling me in, of course not.”
Despite his admission, Irsay emphasized his commitment to the truth and expressed indifference to public opinion. He mentioned that he does not care how his statements may be perceived and believes in standing by the truth as he sees it.

It’s worth noting that Irsay has been open about his struggles with addiction, stemming from prescription medicine he used to manage chronic pain. While acknowledging his personal battles, he now attributes the arrest to what he perceives as bias based on his wealth and race.
Critics may find Irsay’s claim of discrimination against rich, white billionaires unlikely and argue that his circumstances, including his privileged background and ownership of an NFL team, may not align with the experiences of other groups facing systemic issues.
