Jim Harbaugh isn’t one to retreat during his three-game suspension.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh assumed the role of a mere spectator on Saturday afternoon, absent from the sidelines during the No. 3 Wolverines’ 24–15 victory over No. 10 Penn State in the initial segment of his three-game suspension.
In a move reminiscent of Air Bud, the Big Ten’s bylaws don’t explicitly prevent Harbaugh from attending Michigan hockey games. Seizing this opportunity, he joined his team for the Wolverines’ matchup against Minnesota on Saturday evening.
The conference suspended Harbaugh on Friday afternoon for the remainder of the regular season due to an ongoing NCAA investigation into allegations that Michigan engaged in illegal in-game scouting to pilfer opponents’ signs.

Despite his absence, the Wolverines secured a ground-focused victory, rushing for 227 yards and only passing for 60 to overcome the formidable defense of the Nittany Lions.
As a hearing on Harbaugh’s restraining order against the Big Ten is reportedly scheduled for Friday, Michigan faces road challenges against Maryland and a home game against Ohio State in the remaining regular-season schedule.
Harbaugh’s team evidently stands firmly behind him.
