Jim Harbaugh made a memorable statement on Friday about the Los Angeles Chargers’ first-round draft pick.
The Chargers chose left tackle Joe Alt as the No. 5 overall pick, opting not for a flashy player or a typical skill position that many other teams favored.
For Harbaugh, however, the Chargers acquired a player just as impactful as any other.

“I know the question is gonna come up about weapons… We view offensive linemen as weapons,” Harbaugh commented on the team’s choice of Alt.
This remark resonated well with Chargers fans.
Known for crafting physically robust teams with strong offensive and defensive lines, Harbaugh’s approach aligns with the Chargers’ strategy. They also boast a top quarterback in Justin Herbert, who will benefit from Alt’s protection, reinforcing the pick’s logic.
Furthermore, with the second round underway, the Chargers selected wide receiver Ladd McConkey with the No. 34 overall pick, confident in their strategy to address other needs later, after securing Alt, an All-American from Notre Dame, in the first round.
