New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson didn’t hold back when a fan criticized one of his local rivals. The player in question, Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers, had an impressive performance in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys, though it ended on a disappointing note.
The former LSU standout caught 12 passes for 115 yards, showing flashes of brilliance throughout the game. However, the night took a turn for the worse when Nabers suffered a concussion late in the fourth quarter.
The injury occurred as Nabers attempted a diving catch near the sidelines from quarterback Daniel Jones. Initially, it looked like a spectacular play, but replays revealed that Nabers didn’t maintain possession of the ball, leading to a turnover on downs. To make matters worse, Nabers landed awkwardly on his head during the fall. He was slow to get up and was eventually helped off the field and taken to the locker room. The Giants later confirmed it was his first NFL concussion.
Despite Nabers’ strong overall performance, some Giants fans weren’t satisfied. One critic took to X (formerly Twitter) to bash Nabers for dropping a few passes during the game. Jets star Garrett Wilson, who has no shortage of competitive fire, decided to defend his fellow receiver, despite playing for a rival New York team. In response to the fan’s complaint, Wilson simply wrote, “Shut up bra.”
The fan, going by the handle @Giants366, didn’t let it end there. They fired back at Wilson, writing, “Even with the drops he’s still a better WR than you…” Wilson, the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, seemed content with his initial response and didn’t reply further.
While the exchange created a stir on social media, the focus remains on Malik Nabers’ health. Giants head coach Brian Daboll provided an update but didn’t reveal much about the receiver’s status for the upcoming Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

“Yeah, we’ll just take it day by day here and see where he’s at,” Daboll said during a press conference when asked about Nabers’ condition. His absence could be a significant blow to the Giants’ offense, as they are already struggling with a 1-3 start to the season.
On a positive note for the Giants, quarterback Daniel Jones showed signs of improvement in the loss to Dallas. Daboll expressed confidence in his quarterback’s performance, saying, “He’s played well. He’s seeing the field. He’s delivered the ball where he needs to. We had some opportunities to continue drives today, and I’m proud of how he’s performed.”
Another bright spot for the Giants was wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, who stepped up in Nabers’ absence. Robinson recorded a career-high 11 catches for 71 yards, emerging as a reliable secondary option for Jones.
While Nabers’ status remains uncertain, the Giants will hope Robinson can continue to produce if their rookie receiver is sidelined for any extended period.
As for the Jets’ Garrett Wilson, his defense of a fellow wide receiver, even one on a rival team, shows his respect for the grind and challenges of the position.
Whether or not the social media exchange continues, Wilson is undoubtedly focused on his own game, as the Jets try to build momentum in their season.
