Aaron Rodgers is thrilled about the New York Jets’ lineup of prime-time games this season.
“I love it,” Rodgers remarked during an interview on “Mad Dog Sports Radio.” “We are must-watch TV. It’s pretty clear to everyone. No matter if you’re a fan or not, people are drawn to watch me play. They find it entertaining, and we’re definitely a team to keep an eye on this year. It’s not surprising at all.”
The NFL has scheduled the Jets for six prime-time games in 2024, a tally matched only by the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys for the most in the league. This number might increase due to the NFL’s flexible scheduling options. Impressively, New York is the first team in the Super Bowl era to be slated for so many prime-time appearances in the first 11 weeks of the season.
The season will begin for New York with a Monday Night Football showdown against San Francisco. This game will also mark Rodgers’ comeback following an Achilles injury that sidelined him just four plays into his debut with the Jets during the opening MNF of the 2023 season.
“Let’s make it challenging and see how we measure up against the top teams,” Rodgers said. “San Francisco will definitely be among the NFL’s elite.”
It’s been a long drought for the Jets, who haven’t reached the playoffs since the 2010 season.
Mike North, the NFL’s vice president of broadcast partners, recently mentioned that despite the high hopes placed on Rodgers, the Jets “owe us one” after receiving several prime-time games in 2023.
“As for owing anyone, that’s their view,” Rodgers expressed nonchalantly. “I don’t pay much mind to that. Last year was tough for everyone, especially with my injury early on. But this year will be different. When we deliver six fantastic prime-time performances, what will the narrative be then?”
With a top-tier defense and notable offensive additions this offseason, such as two-time 1,000-yard receiver Mike Williams and All-Pro offensive tackle Tyron Smith, the Jets are gearing up for a significant season.
