In March, rumors swirled about New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers potentially joining Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his running mate for the presidential election.
Reportedly, Kennedy approached Rodgers about the opportunity, and the four-time MVP was open to discussions.
However, when the dust settled, it was revealed that Nicole Shanahan would be Kennedy’s vice president on the ballot. So, how did the Jets react to this drama? Team owner Woody Johnson addressed the situation during an appearance on Fox News.
Johnson dismissed the vice president rumors as nothing more than a “momentary distraction” for Rodgers and the Jets. He emphasized that Rodgers is fully focused on football now.
“He is getting back to football 100 percent,” Johnson said, via the New York Post. “He never left football. That was a momentary distraction — maybe like going in the dark room or whatever. But he’s back 100 percent. Great leader. I tell the receivers, ‘You count to 10, hold your hands up and look around, the ball will be there.’”

Rodgers is heading into his second season with the Jets after a challenging first year. Unfortunately, his debut season in New York was cut short when he suffered a torn Achilles during the season opener, sidelining him for the remainder of the year.
The Jets are undoubtedly hoping for better luck in the upcoming 2024 season, with Rodgers leading the team. Johnson expressed optimism about Rodgers’ health and the team’s potential for success if they can keep him protected.
“If we can keep him on his feet, which I think we can, it’s going to be an exciting start to the season,” Johnson added.
