Jerry Rice may be a GOAT, but he’s also a Dad.
Following a successful college tenure culminating in a standout season at USC with 12 touchdowns, Brenden Rice, son of the legendary Jerry Rice, has announced his entry into the 2024 NFL draft with aspirations of emulating his father’s path to stardom as a wide receiver.
Standing at 6’3″, Rice showcased his athleticism at the NFL combine on Saturday, with his Hall of Fame father in attendance, clocking an impressive 40-yard-dash time of 4.51 seconds.
Post 40-yard sprint, Rice displayed his route-running prowess and sure-handedness, executing a challenging shoestring catch along the sideline. Despite his father’s admiration, Jerry Rice didn’t hesitate to offer constructive criticism, humorously remarking, “He’s gotta drag that back foot,” in reference to his son’s failure to get both feet inbounds. The comment elicited laughter from the NFL Network panel, featuring Michael Irvin, Kurt Warner, and Steve Smith.
