Zach Johnson made bold choices for his captain’s picks for the U.S. team in the upcoming Ryder Cup in Italy.
Despite potential controversy, Johnson announced the selection of Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, and Sam Burns.
The decision to include Koepka, who took a break from the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League, and Thomas, who didn’t perform strongly enough to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, is expected to spark discussion among players and fans.

His wife was having none of the negativity, instead opting to celebrate online. Jena took to Instagram to share her excitement over the announcement.
She even compared the selection process to the NFL Draft.
The announcement of Koepka’s participation in the Ryder Cup was made on Tuesday, following Sims’ subtle suggestion on Instagram.
Over the weekend, Sims shared an Instagram Story featuring a photo of Koepka holding a plate adorned with an American flag and a slice of pizza, along with Italian flag emojis.
