Malika Andrews is facing criticism for seemingly not addressing a situation, leading to former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant making headlines by calling her out.
Bryant took issue with Andrews for what he perceived as insufficient coverage of the Josh Giddey situation. Giddey, an Oklahoma City Thunder player, is currently under investigation for allegations involving a relationship with a minor.
Specifically, Bryant criticized Andrews for her coverage of Brandon Miller and the murder near Alabama’s campus, accusing her of unfairly targeting Miller “over something he didn’t even do.” Jemele Hill, a former ESPN personality, defended Andrews against Bryant’s comments.
Hill responded to Bryant, expressing that his tone and approach toward Malika were inappropriate. She pointed out that Bryant made it personal by bringing up how Andrews was raised, and he did not direct similar energy toward male broadcasters.
Bryant had stated that Andrews’ parents “raised [her] wrong” and emphasized that attending a private school doesn’t make someone better. In response, Hill clarified that Andrews was not on air when the Giddey news broke and highlighted that she did address the situation upon her return to television.

The Giddey situation remains challenging, with both Giddey and Thunder head coach Mark Daigenault refusing to comment, and the NBA actively investigating the details surrounding the allegations. The complexity of the situation, combined with a lack of concrete facts, adds to the difficulty of providing commentary.
