Former ESPN personality Jemele Hill sparked widespread controversy recently when she minimized Caitlin Clark’s impact on the rise of women’s basketball popularity while also criticizing the media for allegedly neglecting Black players.
Hill accused the media of inadequately covering women’s sports, particularly highlighting the disproportionate attention given to white players like Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, while Black players like Aliyah Boston received less coverage.
However, after Caitlin Clark’s exceptional performance in the national championship game, where she scored 18 points in the first quarter and finished with 30 points despite Iowa’s loss to South Carolina, Jemele Hill changed her tune.
Taking to social media, Hill congratulated Caitlin Clark on her remarkable collegiate career, acknowledging her outstanding talent and potential for the future.

Earlier, Hill had criticized the media for overlooking Aliyah Boston’s achievements during her college career, suggesting a bias in coverage. She argued that Boston deserved more recognition and attention from the media, similar to what Clark has received.
Despite the controversy surrounding Hill’s initial remarks, Caitlin Clark’s impact on women’s basketball cannot be denied. She has broken records and garnered widespread attention throughout her collegiate career, including becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Tournament history with a clutch three-pointer in her final collegiate game.
