Jason Whitlock loves to stir the pot.
After making a bold appearance at the Vogue World Paris fashion show, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow sparked a significant reaction, particularly due to the daring backless suit he wore.
Burrow, along with fellow NFL star Justin Jefferson, participated in the prestigious fashion event, representing the intersection of sports and high fashion. However, not everyone was impressed with Burrow’s fashion-forward look. Conservative pundit Jason Whitlock voiced his disapproval on his show “Fearless,” criticizing the quarterback’s choice of attire.
“Have you all seen this? Joe Burrow walking a runway in Paris, in a backless suit. They’ve dressed this man up like a woman,” Whitlock said. “Look at that outfit from behind. That is a woman’s outfit. And the quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals is one of the biggest stars in the NFL.”
Whitlock continued his critique, questioning Burrow’s decision to participate in the fashion show. “Yeah, sign me up. I’ll do that. I’ll fly over to Paris and let you all parade me around as a woman. When will men ever be satisfied? And not, ‘Oh, I got to have more attention.’ I’ve got to do more ‘Hey, look at me’ stuff. More, more, more. When do men say, ‘You know what? I’m good. I’m a football player. I make a lot of money. I’m going to stay in my lane. I’m not the guy that needs to push the sexual identity, the sexuality envelope.'”

Whitlock has previously criticized athletes for their self-expression, including WNBA star Brittney Griner. He accused the WNBA of moving away from Griner because the league is becoming “more feminine.”
Burrow’s participation in the Vogue World Paris fashion show underscores the evolving landscape where athletes increasingly cross into other domains, such as fashion, to express their personal styles and interests.
While Whitlock’s comments reflect a more traditional viewpoint, others may see Burrow’s involvement as a celebration of individuality and a breaking down of conventional gender norms.
As Burrow continues to make headlines both on and off the field, his choice to embrace high fashion highlights his multifaceted persona and willingness to step outside traditional expectations. This intersection of sports and fashion, while controversial to some, showcases a broader trend of athletes expanding their influence beyond the playing field and into the cultural zeitgeist.
