Since Jason Kelce retired from the NFL back in March, speculation about his future has been rampant.
Even after he was announced as a football analyst for ESPN in April, some believed it might be a Tom Brady-like smoke screen, hinting at a possible return to the gridiron.
Adding fuel to this speculation, former teammate and Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson has suggested that Kelce might be considering a return to football, but not as a player. According to Johnson, Kelce has been spending a significant amount of time at the Eagles’ facility since his retirement, even maintaining a locker in the coaches’ room.
“He’s been in the Eagles’ facility more than I have since his retirement,” Johnson said. “He’s there to seek advice from people and opinions about his future.”
Johnson further noted that Kelce has been at the Philadelphia facility more than many current players. “He’s lifting, stretching, and socializing, expected to be in the building one or two times a week,” Johnson added.

Should Kelce decide to transition from broadcasting to coaching, Johnson issued a playful warning to Philadelphia’s staff. “They better watch out because this guy had more packages at his locker. You couldn’t even get to his locker, there were just boxes,” Johnson said, referring to Kelce’s well-known habit of creating a cluttered space in the locker room. “He kind of created a little fort, and during the year, you couldn’t get to the back of the locker room. So, watch out coaches’ locker room.”
Kelce’s presence at the Eagles’ facility isn’t just about business. He and Johnson recently appeared at WWE WrestleMania 40, held at the Eagles’ home stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. The duo made a memorable entrance, jumping the barricade in green masks to assist Rey Mysterio and Andrade in winning their tag-team match before unmasking to the crowd’s delight.
While Jason Kelce’s next move remains uncertain, his frequent visits to the Eagles’ facility and continued involvement with the team suggest that he might not be stepping away from football entirely. Whether in broadcasting or coaching, Kelce’s influence on the game is likely to continue.
