Jason Kelce clarified on their “New Heights” podcast this week that he wasn’t pleased with his brother Travis’ beer-chugging performance during a special event, but not for the reasons some might think.
While there was some initial backlash from people who mistakenly thought Travis had chugged a beer at an actual graduation ceremony, the event was actually a staged celebration, part of a live podcast aimed at raising NIL funds for the University of Cincinnati. No formal commencement activities were interrupted.
Jason’s main gripe? The execution of the beer chug itself. “If there’s anything anybody should have been upset with, it’s that you didn’t finish the chug,” Jason pointed out. “That’s why I was upset. There was way too much spillage to consider that a successful chug.”

He reassured listeners that the event was meant to be lighthearted and fun, mentioning, “Sorry for everybody that got upset about this. It just wasn’t that kind of event. It wasn’t that serious. There were two women wrestling in a vat of chili before this.”
Jason concluded with a nod to humor and humility, reflecting the night’s spirited antics: “It was an absolutely fun night littered with all sorts of shenanigans. In the words of the great Charles Barkley, I don’t think Travis or I should be anyone’s role model. I think that’s probably fair to say.”
