Jason Kelce may have hung up his NFL cleats, but that doesn’t mean he’s off the hook when it comes to staying active—at least not according to his wife, Kylie.
The former Philadelphia Eagles star, who recently announced his retirement after a remarkable 13-year career, now finds himself with significantly more free time.
However, Kylie has ensured that her husband maintains a workout routine, implementing a new household rule to keep him physically and mentally sharp.
During an appearance on Green Light with Chris Long, Kelce revealed that his wife has set a non-negotiable condition: he must work out at least three days a week. The reason? Kylie doesn’t want to deal with him if he doesn’t. Kelce explained, “When I’ve worked out, I am in a great mood, I interact well at home with my kids and everybody—I just am a better person.” This newfound routine is less about maintaining his NFL physique and more about keeping his spirits high and his interactions with his family positive.
Jason and Kylie, who have been married since 2018, share three children: four-year-old Wyatt, three-year-old Elliotte, and one-year-old Bennett. With his retirement, Kelce now has the opportunity to spend more time at home with his family, but Kylie’s workout rule ensures that he remains the best version of himself for their kids and each other.

Chris Long, who hosts the Yote House Media-produced show and is a former teammate of Kelce’s with the Eagles, echoed this sentiment during their conversation.
Long pointed out that many athletes struggle post-retirement not just because they miss the game, but also because they lose the physical activity that once provided them with a dopamine boost. “If I don’t work out, I’m tough to deal with,” Long admitted, aligning with Kelce’s experience.
Kelce, who played most of his NFL career at around 295 pounds, also touched on his post-retirement weight loss journey. He shared that he weighed in at 276 pounds recently, after being stuck at 280 for several months.
While Kelce has set a goal to drop down to between 250 and 260 pounds, he’s cautious about losing too much weight. “I don’t want to get too small,” he told GQ earlier. “I think a lot of guys, especially offensive linemen, lose too much weight, and then they look like bobbleheads because their neck gets so small, but their head stays the same size.”
In addition to following his Kylie-mandated workout regimen, Kelce will stay busy with a new role in broadcasting. He’s set to join ESPN’s Monday Night Football team, with his first assignment covering the Jets’ game against the 49ers on September 9.
Though his days on the gridiron may be over, Kelce’s post-NFL life is shaping up to be just as active and fulfilling, thanks in no small part to the structure and support provided by his wife, Kylie.
