Jason Kelce is going to hilarious and extreme lengths to prevent his family from adopting a pet cat, using a tactic his brother Travis Kelce humorously called “psycho.” As a father of three young daughters—Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1—Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, is determined to avoid bringing a feline friend into the household.
On a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Travis, Jason revealed his outlandish strategy to keep his girls from asking for a cat. “You know what my latest plan to divert our family from getting a cat is?” he said. “I just keep telling our girls that cats are poisonous.”
Travis, clearly taken aback, immediately questioned the logic behind the approach. “Why the f**k would you tell them that?” he responded.
Unfazed, Jason explained that his goal was to make his daughters “terrified” of cats to avoid any future requests for one. He even doubled down on his method, adding, “I think lying to your kids is important.”
However, Travis pointed out a potential flaw in the plan. “They’re gonna go over to a friend’s house and f*****g scream bloody murder because they see a cat,” Travis warned, imagining the chaos that could unfold if Jason’s daughters encountered a feline elsewhere.

Jason shrugged off the concern, responding, “Sounds like that person’s house problem,” prompting Travis to call him a “psycho” for his unorthodox approach.
Now retired after a stellar NFL career with the Eagles, Jason has been spending more time at home with his family. His antics to avoid adding a pet to the household show just how far he’s willing to go for peace at home, even if it involves some questionable tactics.
In addition to his humorous cat-avoidance scheme, Jason recently shared some insights into his home life with his wife Kylie. On Green Light with Chris Long, he explained how Kylie has enforced a new household rule: Jason must work out at least three times a week. “Otherwise she doesn’t want to deal with me,” he joked.
He admitted that working out has a positive impact on his mood and overall demeanor. “When I’ve worked out, I am in a great mood, I interact well at home with my kids and everybody—I just am a better person,” he said.
The former NFL star, who played most of his career at 295 pounds, also revealed that he had dropped down to 276 pounds since retiring. But retirement hasn’t slowed him down too much—he’s taking on a new challenge as a Monday Night Football analyst for ESPN, adding another chapter to his post-football career while continuing to keep his family life as entertaining as ever.
With his playful personality and larger-than-life sense of humor, Jason Kelce’s adventures as a dad and husband seem to be just as entertaining as his time on the field.
Whether it’s cooking up schemes to avoid getting a cat or keeping his home life in check with workout routines, Jason continues to keep things interesting—both at home and in the public eye.
