Jason Kelce, who attended the 2024 Paris Olympics with his wife, Kylie, recently confessed that he had doubts about whether Biles could still live up to her Greatest of All Time (GOAT) status at this year’s competition. On the premiere episode of “New Heights,” the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Travis Kelce, Jason shared his initial skepticism about Biles’ performance due to her age, as she is older than most of her competitors.
“We watched every [Team USA gymnastics] girl go and do the floor routine, and Simone Biles was the last person,” the former Philadelphia Eagles center, 36, recounted. “And I’m like, you know, she’s getting older. She’s a little bit… we’ll see how she looks.”
Travis, shocked by his brother’s doubt, quickly reminded him of Biles’ extraordinary abilities, calling her an “anomaly.” Jason didn’t hesitate to agree, saying, “She is the anomaly because she jumped higher than everybody, and it wasn’t even close.”
Jason went on to describe the awe he felt watching Biles perform. “You watch all these people do the floor routine, then it’s Simone’s turn at the end, and within the first three seconds, you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s different,’” he said. “She just jumped five feet higher than everybody else that has done this.”
Biles, known for soaring up to 12 feet in the air during her floor routines, once again stunned the world with her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite his earlier doubts, Jason was clearly impressed by what he saw.
Travis joined in praising Biles, celebrating her remarkable comeback after withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to the twisties, a dangerous condition that affects a gymnast’s spatial awareness. “It’s such a feel-good story, knowing the past and everything that she’s had to go through, and just to feel confident and getting back up there mentally,” Travis said. “It’s the best, man. So happy for her. And America is so proud of her, man.”
Jason agreed wholeheartedly, noting that watching Team USA’s female gymnasts, who placed first in the team competition, receive their gold medals was the “highlight of the Olympics” for him.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Biles cemented her status as the most decorated gymnast in history. She took home gold medals in the team finals, the individual all-around finals, and the vault finals, as well as a silver medal for her floor routine. Her Olympic medal tally now stands at an impressive 11, complemented by an additional 30 World Championship medals.
With her performance in Paris, Biles not only lived up to her GOAT status but also surpassed it, proving once again that she is truly in a league of her own.
