During a recent episode of “New Heights,” the podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce, Jason’s wife Kylie shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes account of her engagement to Jason.
As they were leaving her parents’ house one day, Jason was attempting to find a discreet way to enter the house to ask for her parents’ permission before proposing.
“I went into the house… and asked [her parents] for Kylie’s hand in marriage,” Jason revealed.
“I was trying to do this because I wanted to get it done before training camp and be engaged. So there were some scheduling reasons,” he continued. “I couldn’t figure out how to inconspicuously go into the house… I said, ‘Ky, I’m sorry, I gotta go take care of something right now.'”
Kylie didn’t suspect anything at first, but she was keeping an eye on the clock.
“I thought, ‘Great, go in, because we’re not turning back around,'” Kylie interjected. “Because at this point, we were visiting my parents, we lived 30 minutes away from where they lived, and we had already loaded the dog into the car.”
Soon enough, Kylie started to realize something was amiss.
“He went inside, and he was only in there for maybe two minutes, and I said, ‘Jason, go back in there and finish what you started. I know you didn’t just go in there for a quick task; it usually takes you 20 minutes, and that was not long enough, and we are not turning around.'”
“And then he said, ‘I know this isn’t the most romantic way to do this, but can you please get out of the car?'”
“At least you got it done, buddy. Hats off,” Travis added after hearing the story.
Jason, who has been a center with the Eagles since 2011, has been selected to the Pro Bowl six times and earned five All-Pro nods.
He faced off against his brother, Travis, an eight-time Pro Bowl tight end with four All-Pro selections, in Super Bowl LVII.
