Jason Kelce is addressing the critics of his latest entrepreneurial venture with his brother Travis.
The Kelce brothers have partnered with General Mills to create a unique cereal mix called “The Kelce Mix.”
This concoction blends three classic cereals: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, and Reese’s Puffs, into one exciting bowl.
The collaboration was highlighted in a segment on The Today Show on July 23, generating a mix of reactions from viewers. Among the critics was former food and pharmaceutical consultant Calley Means, who expressed his disapproval on X (formerly Twitter).
“Athletes should stop sponsoring food that destroys kids’ metabolic health. Some things are more important than money,” Means wrote on July 26.
Jason Kelce responded to the criticism by sharing his personal connection to the cereals. He explained that General Mills products were a staple in his diet as a child.
“I grew up on these products, Calley, and I was a perfectly healthy, fit child because I enjoyed them in moderation and as quick meals when my parents didn’t have time to cook,” the retired Philadelphia Eagles player explained.
Kelce further elaborated, saying, “I appreciate you spreading information on what is healthy for people and kids, and I take the obesity epidemic seriously. But there is also room to eat cereal, ice cream, and candy in the right quantities as part of a healthy lifestyle.”

On a personal health note, Jason revealed in June that he had lost nearly 20 pounds since retiring from the NFL in March.
“Right now, I’m about 277. I’m almost 20 pounds down,” Kelce told GQ. “It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 pounds coming off, being honest with you. But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better.”
Jason, who shares daughters Wyatt, 4, Ellie, 3, and Bennett, 1, with his wife Kylie, noted that the weight loss has positively impacted his ability to engage with his children. “Another 20 pounds hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children,” he added.
Regarding the possibility of expanding his family, Jason commented on the potential of becoming a family of six. “That is not a question for me, but Kylie has expressed before we started having kids that she wanted a big family. So we’ll see what the future holds,” he told Entertainment Tonight in July.
While he acknowledged that they already have their “hands full” with three daughters, he left the door open for future additions. “It’s hard to imagine another one running around,” he said, emphasizing the busyness of their current household.
As Jason continues to navigate post-NFL life, his focus remains on balancing family, personal health, and new business ventures, all while addressing public perceptions and maintaining a positive, active lifestyle.
