Jason Kelce is navigating the unfamiliar terrain of retirement.
At 36, Jason recently hung up his cleats, announcing his departure from the NFL on March 4. In a recent episode of “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” he shared with his brother, Travis Kelce, the strangeness of his first offseason. As players geared up for summer training, Jason noted the odd feeling of not joining them.
“It’s odd not walking into the building, missing out on those casual chats,” Jason described. “You’ll understand when it’s your turn, Trav,” he added, to which Travis, 34, humorously responded, “I’m never retiring if it feels like that.”
Jason expressed how much he misses the routine and camaraderie, from tweaking plays to broader team discussions aimed at collective improvement. “It’s just strange not being part of that anymore,” he confessed.

He also humorously recounted having to officially declare his retirement via email, despite a very public announcement. “I thought my tearful 45-minute press conference would be enough,” he joked.
Now officially on the league’s retirement list, Jason, a father of three, remarked, “It feels no different being officially official.”
During the podcast, they played a clip of Eagles coach Jeff Stoutland reflecting on Jason’s career, highlighting both his contributions and the timing of his retirement. Stoutland said, “I’m happy for him but also sad, as I feel I’ve lost a close friend and partner in this journey. He left nothing on the field, giving everything mentally, physically—exactly what Philadelphia cherishes in a player.”
Travis echoed Stoutland’s sentiments, praising his brother’s thorough dedication. “You’ve always been all-in, never doing anything halfway,” he affirmed.
