Jason Kelce has made it clear that he won’t be following in the footsteps of NFL greats who’ve endured a roast.
On “The New Heights” podcast, hosted by Jason and his brother Travis, the conversation turned to Tom Brady’s recent roast, where he was the target of jokes from former teammates and comedians.
Despite recognizing the entertainment value, Jason expressed his bafflement over the appeal of such events.
“It was definitely entertaining, and I’m glad they did it, but I just don’t understand the appeal of roasts,” Jason remarked. He admitted that perhaps he takes himself too seriously, adding, “It was full of stars, which was the best part. And seeing the whole Patriots dynasty there for Tom was something. But still, I really don’t f–king get why people enjoy these roasts. It’s like, ‘Haha, my family’s ruined, so funny, we’re all laughing, we’re having fun, yeah right.'”

The roast included several pointed jokes about Brady’s recent divorce from Gisele Bündchen and her new relationship with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. According to a source who spoke to People, Bündchen was “deeply disappointed” by the frequent references to her failed marriage during the event.
Despite the personal jabs, including a controversial remark from roast master Jeff Ross directed at Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Brady appeared to handle the evening well. Travis admired Brady’s resilience, saying, “Oh my Goodness, it was unbelievable. Everyone involved, hats off. I was in tears just from watching Nikki Glaser’s clips. I didn’t catch it live, but it looked like everyone had a good time and no feelings were hurt. It was hilarious seeing how they all went at each other.”
The brothers also speculated on Brady’s compensation for the roast, with Jason jokingly reconsidering his stance on participating in one. “I take it back. I’ll do a roast. What’d you guys pay Tom? The one person I wouldn’t let on stage is Kylie,” he quipped about his wife of six years. “She knows too much. I get roasted by Kylie every day.”
