Jason and Travis Kelce, the NFL’s favorite brother duo, have stepped into the growing conversation about the mysterious drones spotted over New York and New Jersey. On their popular New Heights podcast, the two shared their lighthearted and speculative takes on what—or who—might be behind the unusual sightings.
Travis Kelce kicked off the discussion with a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that extraterrestrial life could be responsible. “The aliens are among us, the Pentagon said it,” Travis joked, referring to recent UFO disclosures.
Jason, not missing a beat, pushed back against the theory. “No, they’re not aliens… they didn’t say it was aliens,” the Philadelphia Eagles star replied. Travis, however, doubled down in a playful tone, adding, “Dude, ask dad. He’s been on the satellites. He heard ‘em.”
Shifting away from extraterrestrial theories, Travis offered a more grounded explanation, suggesting the drones might simply be the result of mischievous locals. “No one go crazy, everyone keep calm—they’re just drones,” he said, adding humorously, “What are they doing? We don’t know. Somebody’s just f***ing around in their backyard.”

Jason chimed in with his own mix of humor and skepticism, mockingly asking, “Do they have weapons? No. Can they hurt us? No. PANIICCCCCC.” Still, he admitted that the situation was “a little concerning.” He noted, “I don’t know what they’re looking for or what they’re trying to find, but they’re searching for something.”
Ultimately, both brothers agreed to steer clear of diving too deep into conspiracy theories, leaving the discussion open-ended.
Meanwhile, in the real world, the mystery surrounding these drones has sparked serious debate among officials. While Biden administration representatives have stated that many of the drones are likely harmless commercial aircraft, others, including House Foreign Affairs Chair Michael McCaul, suspect something more sinister.
McCaul recently expressed concerns that some of the unidentified drones could be spy devices originating from China. “I believe they’re spy drones,” McCaul stated. “The PRC [People’s Republic of China] and communist China are very good at this stuff. We know they’ve bought land around military bases. This would be very consistent with their policy over the past couple of years.”
McCaul also revealed that NASA Administrator Bill Nelson had informed him about drones being reported over U.S. military installations, calling it “disturbing” that the government has yet to determine their origins. “We want answers, but the response I’m getting is that we don’t know whose drones these are,” he said.
China has previously faced scrutiny for purchasing strategically located farmland near U.S. military bases, raising concerns about potential espionage efforts. While investigations into the drone sightings continue, the situation has left officials and the public alike searching for answers.
For now, Jason and Travis Kelce seem content to leave the probing to the experts, though their humorous takes on the topic reflect how even serious discussions can have moments of levity.
Whether aliens, spies, or backyard pranksters are behind the drones, the debate continues to hover in the air—much like the drones themselves.
