A sideline reporter’s primary role is to provide updates, but occasionally they get caught up in a light moment or two.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff showcased an exceptional performance on Sunday, leading his team to a crucial victory. Goff commended head coach Dan Campbell for his gutsy decision to go for it on a pivotal fourth down during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In a tied game with no timeouts remaining, the Lions opted to keep their offense on the field for a fourth-and-2 situation from the Chargers’ 26-yard line, with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Goff executed a six-yard connection with Sam LaPorta, securing a first down. Subsequently, Detroit managed the clock effectively and sealed the thrilling shootout with a 41-yard field goal as time expired, securing a 41-38 victory.
Post-game, Goff injected a bit of humor into the interview, causing the reporter to share a laugh with an NSFW comment about the daring moment. “Ballsy,” Goff remarked, appreciating Coach Campbell’s bold decision-making.
Sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson couldn’t help but giggle over Goff’s remark:
He added, “It paid off. We love when he puts us in those positions to make those plays. He’s got balls of steel, and today, he showed it.”
Despite the Lions’ impressive offensive display, accumulating 533 total yards, their defense struggled, conceding 421 yards. Goff himself concluded the contest with 23 completions on 33 attempts, amassing 333 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
While it might be unexpected for a seasoned professional to find the term “ballsy” amusing, the reporter couldn’t help but share a lighthearted moment with Goff during the interview.
