It’s an intriguing analogy coming from someone who has never experienced marriage.
Philadelphia 76ers’ standout, James Harden, is back on the practice court with the team during their training camp, following a tumultuous summer marked by an unfulfilled trade request.
Harden’s strained relationship with the team’s management, particularly with executive Daryl Morey, has been extensively reported. During a conversation with reporters on Friday, the Philadelphia star emphasized that the relationship remained fragile, likening it to the erosion of trust within a marital bond.

“No,” responded Harden when questioned by Keith Pompey about his belief in the possibility of repairing the relationship.
“It’s not even [specific] to this situation, this is life. When you lose trust in someone, it’s like a marriage. When you lose trust in someone, it’s like …” Harden paused and shook his head. “You know, it’s pretty simple.”
Harden once again expressed his aspiration to conclude his career as a Philadelphia 76ers player, but he acknowledged that the organization had different intentions. This observation sheds light on the reported difficulties encountered during contract extension negotiations over the summer.
“When I got traded here, my whole thing is that I wanted to be here and retire a Sixer. And the front office didn’t have that in their future plans,” Harden said.
Harden indicated his intent to don the 76ers’ uniform and participate in the upcoming season, yet it’s evident that this relationship is now closer to its conclusion rather than its inception, following a challenging summer for both parties.
