Jamal Murray’s dad is the latest to be put under a microscope.
In Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Jamal Murray put on a historic performance. Despite Nikola Jokic stealing the show with the first-ever 30-20-10 game in the Finals, Murray still managed to record his own triple-double, finishing the game with an impressive 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
However, between Games 3 and 4, Murray was seen wearing tape around his left hand, which Nuggets head coach Michael Malone later explained was due to a floor burn.

Murray did pain tolerance drills in his youth to prepare for moments like this, according to ESPN’s Malika Andrews.
Drills such as balancing cups of hot tea on his quads while holding a squat position. Naturally fans were not happy with Murrray’s father’s unorthodox methods.
So abuse. His dad would abuse him under the guise of training. https://t.co/pUXgLUhJy8

While some fans have accused Jamal Murray’s father of abusing him under the guise of training, not everyone in the comment section agrees with this assessment.
All the ppl in the comments calling training abuse is the reason most of yall have become nothing, and never will be nothing worth talking about. He is there today bcz of what yall call abuse.

Malone has assured reporters that Murray is “fine,” and through 18 games, he’s averaging 27.4 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.7 rebounds in the 2023 NBA playoffs. We’ll see if his Father’s unusual, potentially abusive training style will pay off with a ring.
