Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has expressed strong confidence in the team’s leadership as they approach the 2024 season.
Speaking on Monday, Hurts shared his enthusiasm and trust in the organization, particularly highlighting the club’s owner, general manager, and head coach.
“I’m excited to be back, excited to go through this journey and to go through this season with everyone here,” Hurts said, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP. He further emphasized, “I trust Mr. Lurie, I trust Howie (Roseman), I trust Coach Sirianni to lead us in the right direction.”

The partnership between Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni has been a focal point in NFL discussions this offseason.
Reports suggest that while their relationship remains a “work in progress,” it has been under considerable scrutiny. The Eagles’ impressive 10-1 start last season was described as a “grind,” indicating underlying challenges.
One major issue reportedly affecting their relationship was Sirianni’s conservative play-calling.
This approach became particularly contentious as the Eagles struggled towards the end of the 2023 season, finishing with a 1-6 record in their final seven games. This disappointing stretch included a humiliating 32-9 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round.
During these games, the offense struggled significantly, failing to score more than 20 points in five of the seven contests and ranking 20th in dropback EPA.
In response to these challenges, the Eagles made significant changes to their offensive coaching staff during the offseason. Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and quarterbacks coach Alex Tanney were replaced by Kellen Moore and Doug Nussmeier. Moore, who served as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers last season, previously achieved notable success with the Dallas Cowboys, leading their offense to three top-six scoring finishes between 2019 and 2022.
Additionally, the Eagles made a splash in free agency by signing star running back Saquon Barkley to a three-year, $37.5 million contract. Barkley expressed high praise for Hurts, saying, “(Hurts is) just a natural-born leader. It doesn’t feel forced,” according to Andrew DiCecco of Inside The Birds.
Jalen Hurts has established himself as a key player for the Eagles, starting 51 games over his four-year tenure with the team. He boasts a 34-17 record, accumulating 14,627 total yards and 108 touchdowns.
As the Eagles gear up for the 2024 season, Hurts’ leadership and the revamped coaching staff will be crucial in navigating the challenges ahead and aiming for a successful campaign.
