J.J. Watt is the latest to weigh in on viral sensation Baby Gronk.
J.J. Watt, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals, could have been getting ready for the mandatory minicamp next week if he were still playing. However, he is currently enjoying his retirement. Now, he is taking advantage of his newfound leisure time and showcasing his golf game on some spectacular courses.
Alongside this, he has recently become a new father and invested in Premier League side Burnley.
Plenty of people request Watt’s opinions, prompting him to consider starting a podcast.
Among the topics he’s offered to weigh in on is “Baby Gronk,” a 10-year-old football prodigy whose father has programmed and trained him since he was six. This approach has stirred up quite the controversy on social media. Watt, however, believes that kids should be allowed to play multiple sports and enjoy their childhood, even if they participate in advanced leagues.
“I’ve always said… Kids should play multiple sports and kids should be allowed to be kids. I’m not against advanced leagues, better competition, etc.,” said Watt.
“But no kid should be playing one sport all year & no kid should be training “like a pro” until at least HS. They’re kids.”

They’re kids.

He thinks it is not appropriate for kids to be subjected to year-round training and treated like professionals until they reach high school.
And JJ probably isn’t wrong, but parents are in charge of their own kids, not the public.
We’ll have to wait and see if Baby Gronk ever materializes into an NFL player.
