In a pivotal move during Thursday night’s 2024 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings traded up in the first round to secure former Michigan star quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the tenth overall pick.
Cameras quickly turned to McCarthy awaiting the call that would change his life.

Joining in on the excitement was McCarthy’s fiancée, Katya Kuropas.

Kuropas wrote this prior to her future husband being drafted:

Since high school, the couple has been inseparable, and they made their engagement official in January 2024 with a touching post: “Me, You & Marley Forever & Ever.”
McCarthy’s tenure at Michigan was marked by success, leading his team to a national championship and demonstrating his prowess as a quarterback ideally suited for Coach Jim Harbaugh’s system.
As McCarthy sets his sights on the NFL, he is determined to establish himself as a franchise quarterback, embarking on this exciting new chapter with Kuropas by his side.
