Iowa State QB Hunter Dekkers Accused Of Betting On His Own Team’s Games

Not a good look for Hunter Dekkers.

Iowa State Quarterback Hunter Dekkers is currently facing serious allegations and legal consequences.

On Tuesday, Dekkers was charged with tampering with records in connection to an ongoing investigation into sports gambling within the Iowa Criminal Division.

The accusations involve Dekkers gambling on Cyclones sports, including a football game against Oklahoma State in 2021, while he was serving as a backup quarterback.

According to reports from the Des Moines Register, Dekkers is believed to have placed a total of 26 bets on Cyclone sporting events, with a total of 366 bets on various sports on the internet.

Shockingly, it is disclosed that 297 of these bets were made when Dekkers was under the age of 21, making it illegal for him to engage in gambling activities.

The complaint further alleges that Dekkers colluded with his parents, Scott and Jami Dekkers, to carry out the scheme.

This arrangement allowed Dekkers to mask his involvement by creating the impression that the bets were actually being placed by Jami Dekkers. This investigation extends beyond Dekkers, though.

Additional charges of tampering with records have been filed against other individuals involved in the Iowa State sports community. This includes Iowa State football players Dodge Sauser and former player Eyioma Uwazurike, as well as Iowa State wrestler Paniro Johnson.

The implications of these charges are significant for all those involved. The legal proceedings will determine the extent of their culpability and potential consequences.
