Iowa Hawkeyes guard Gabbie Marshall revealed that she had to delete her social media.
Marshall revealed that she had to do this due to a rash of hateful comments she received following a controversial foul she drew during the Iowa vs. UConn Final Four game.
The foul occurred late in the game, with the Huskies trailing by one point and attempting to take the lead.
“I’ve gotten a lot of hate comments,” Marshall said during media availability before the national title game. “I don’t know. I’m not the one that made the call. So I’m not sure why they’re mad at me personally.”
The play itself had social media buzzing with many claiming that the refs should not have called a foul while others agreed with the foul call.

Marshall gave her take on the play and whether the right call was made.
“When the right call’s the right call, it’s not fair to say you can’t make that call with 10 seconds left when you can make it with 10 minutes, or two minutes left,” Marshall said. “If it’s the right call, it’s the right call. It’s out of my control to make the calls, but personally I thought it was an illegal screen and it’s not like it was the first one of the game.”
With the victory, Iowa will take on undefeated South Carolina in what will be a highly anticipated National Championship game on Sunday.
