Tiger Woods’ comeback bid has been halted.
Woods pulled out of The Genesis Invitational, his own hosted event in Southern California and his first official tournament since the last year’s Masters, citing an apparent illness. After a rocky start to his second round at Riviera Country Club, Woods hit his tee shot on the seventh hole before leaving the course in a cart, marking the end of his tournament.
At the time, Woods was 1-over for the round and 2-over for the event. Tour and rules official Mark Dusbabek confirmed Woods’ withdrawal due to illness, stating, “He’s not feeling well.”
The internet weighed in on Tiger’s exit via a golf cart:

Woods had opened the Genesis Invitational with a 1-over 72 on Thursday, grappling with inconsistency throughout. Despite mentioning back spasms during his first round, which he attributed to a previous fusion procedure, Woods indicated no physical discomfort related to his back or foot on Friday before withdrawing.
Patrick Cantlay led the tournament at 10-under when Woods exited, though Cantlay was only midway through his second round. Woods trailed by two shots from the projected cutline, requiring a strong finish to progress to the weekend.
Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ll see of Tiger.
