Hugh Grant recently shared more details about his unexpected and wild night at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour alongside NFL star Travis Kelce, giving fans a glimpse into an unforgettable experience. The “Love Actually” actor attended one of Swift’s shows in London over the summer with his daughter, but it turns out most of his evening was spent doing tequila shots with Kelce.
Grant, who is not typically a concertgoer, admitted that the experience turned out to be much more enjoyable than he anticipated.
While promoting his new film, “Heretic,” Grant spoke to NME about the night, saying, “I had a great time at the show, and honestly, I never thought I’d enjoy a concert so much.” He even laughed as he added, “Now that is my cup of tea,” noting that his daughter is a massive Swiftie who was beyond thrilled to attend.
Grant explained that he wasn’t sure if they would be able to get tickets, given the high demand for Swift’s sold-out show at Wembley Stadium. “I put out some feelers to her team, just to see if it would be possible,” he said. To his surprise, the response was positive. “To my astonishment, [Swift and her team] said, ‘Come along,’ and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
The actor described the excitement his daughter and her friend felt as they immersed themselves in the concert. “My daughter and her friend went absolutely mad,” Grant said. “They were bopping away to every single song, singing their hearts out, and it was just lovely to see.” While the young fans were busy enjoying the music, Grant found himself some unexpected company.

Grant recounted how he ended up spending most of the evening with Travis Kelce, who was at the show with his older brother, Jason Kelce. “I hung out with Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, who is an American football player,” Grant said, referring to Kelce. “We ended up doing tequila shots in the back of this little hut set up in the middle of Wembley Stadium.”
The night got a bit wild as the duo made the most of the evening. “We got absolutely smashed,” Grant admitted with a grin, adding that it was a truly unexpected but entertaining twist to the night.
Despite the fun they had, Grant said that he and Kelce haven’t stayed in touch since the show. Nevertheless, he was grateful for the experience and took to social media afterward to thank Swift and Kelce for such a memorable night.
On Twitter, Grant wrote, “Dear @taylorswift13, You have an incredible show, an amazing and very hospitable team, and an excellent, albeit gigantic, boyfriend (#tequilashots). Thanks so much from one aging London boy, wife, and thrilled 8-year-old.” His humorous and heartfelt tweet quickly gained attention, and Swift herself responded the next day.
“As a longtime Hugh Grant stan, this tweet is very important to my culture,” Swift wrote in reply. Grant told NME that Swift’s response was “extremely nice” and that it meant a lot to hear that she was a fan of his work. “She’s very hospitable, and I think it’s a brilliant show,” he added.
While Swift had admired Grant’s acting for years, it appears that Kelce has recently joined the fan club as well.
During an episode of his “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason, Travis shared that he decided to watch “Notting Hill” for the first time after meeting Grant.
“I like watching films with people that I’ve met and I know,” Kelce explained. “And I really enjoyed it. That one is a classic.” It seems that the admiration is mutual, with Kelce discovering a newfound appreciation for the actor after their wild night together.
Grant’s evening at the Eras Tour was an unexpected adventure filled with laughter, tequila, and the joy of seeing his daughter experience her idol’s concert.
It’s clear that the actor stepped out of his comfort zone and ended up having an unforgettable night—proving that even Hugh Grant, a self-proclaimed non-concertgoer, can have a blast when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are involved.
