NFL star Tank Dell, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, has been filmed training intensely just three weeks after being shot in a crowded Florida nightclub.
The 24-year-old was among ten people injured during a shooting at Cabana Live in Sanford on April 27. The incident occurred when a 16-year-old, following an altercation, opened fire in the nightclub, which was packed with more than 200 patrons. Another unidentified individual also discharged a firearm during the event. An act of bravery by a security guard, who tackled the young shooter, prevented further tragedy.
Dell, originally from Daytona Beach nearby, sustained a minor wound and was swiftly discharged from the hospital. His recovery seems to be progressing well, as evidenced by a recent video he shared on social media.
In the clip, Dell demonstrates his remarkable speed, sprinting downfield at an indoor facility and catching a long pass from a training partner.

Texans owner Cal McNair recently assured fans of Dell’s recovery, stating during the team’s annual charity golf classic that Dell is expected to make a full recovery. “It looks like Tank will make a full recovery,” McNair remarked. “We saw him in the office the other day, and he looked good, in good spirits. However, he’ll need to undergo rehab to return to his pre-injury condition.”
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans, while maintaining a cautious stance, expressed optimism about Dell’s situation, mentioning that Dell is in good spirits and that their conversations have been positive. When pressed about Dell’s readiness for the upcoming season and whether he would miss any practice time, Ryans reiterated his confidence, stating, “I’ve answered all that about Tank – he’ll be all right.”
Dell, who was drafted in the third round in 2023 after an impressive career at the University of Houston, had a notable rookie season with 709 receiving yards and a franchise rookie record of seven touchdown receptions. He was recovering from a broken left fibula sustained in December last season when the shooting occurred. Ryans had previously confirmed in April that Dell had recovered from the fibula injury and was set to participate in the team’s workouts before his unfortunate involvement in the nightclub incident.
