So how did Tom Brady really feel about Aaron Hernandez?
Fans of the NFL were surprised to find that Tom Brady was not featured in the episode of “The Dynasty” that centered on the late Aaron Hernandez. Despite several former Patriots, including Wes Welker and Deion Branch, discussing Hernandez, Brady’s absence raised eyebrows.
Matthew Hamachek, the director of “The Dynasty,” shed light on Brady’s absence from the Hernandez episode, stating, “I didn’t ask him about it… Part of it is, you’ve got three hours with people, and you have to pick and choose where you’re going to focus your questions on and I did not ask Tom Brady about [Hernandez].”
Hamachek elaborated on his decision-making process during interviews, highlighting the necessity of prioritization. He explained that given the limited time available, he opted to address topics such as Deflategate with Brady, believing it was essential for Brady to have the opportunity to respond to matters directly concerning him.
“You have to make a choice every time you’re interviewing somebody, like, what are you going to ask? And so if I had to make the choice between asking him about Aaron Hernandez, or asking him about the Deflategate, I was going to lean toward Deflategate. I thought that was the thing that he needed to have a chance to respond to because obviously that is about him.”
In essence, Hamachek aimed to maximize the time he had with Brady by focusing on discussions surrounding Brady’s Super Bowl triumphs and scandals, considering the vast array of content spanning Brady’s illustrious 20-year career with the Patriots.
Thus, his decision to prioritize certain topics over others was based on what he deemed most pertinent to the narrative being explored in “The Dynasty.”
