Christmas arrived early for fans who dread commercials during football games, thanks to a special treat from the Los Angeles Chargers.
For viewers streaming the game on Peacock, NBC decided to make the fourth quarter entirely ad-free. The collaboration between NBC and the NFL to introduce this ad-free quarter began discussions as early as June, according to Rob Hyland, coordinating producer for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.”

Hyland expressed enthusiasm for the reduced interruptions, stating, “The limited stoppages are exciting for me as someone that wants to tell the story of the game and have the time to do it.”
Here’s how NBC’s ad-free quarter plan unfolds, as detailed by CBS Sports:
The fourth quarter kicks off with a branded moment from main sponsors (Hyundai, Capital One, and Walmart) before transitioning to an ad-free experience. While the regular commercial breaks remain, viewers won’t encounter traditional ads. Instead, NBC will fill these breaks with NFL-related discussions from its studio team. The game’s earlier storylines will also receive more in-depth analysis from commentators Tirico, Collinsworth, and Stark.
Chargers fans, who may be seeking a respite from the football action, especially after the previous week’s lopsided loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, might appreciate this unique ad-free experience.
The Buffalo vs. Los Angeles game airs at 8:00 p.m. ET Saturday on Peacock, offering the potential for an exciting matchup that viewers can enjoy without the interruption of commercials during the fourth quarter.
