EA Sports’ “Madden NFL 24” features a unique version of New England Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick.
As fans may be aware, EA Sports is unable to use Belichick’s likeness in their video games due to their agreement with the National Football League Coaches Association (NFCLA), which excludes Belichick as an active NFL coach. Belichick is the only active coach not in the NFCLA.
To comply with this limitation, EA Sports has named a fictional character called “Peter Gaffney” as the Patriots’ head coach in the game.

However, Gaffney bears no resemblance to the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach.
If you are unfamiliar with Belichick’s appearance, you can find a recent picture of him addressing the media below.

Despite the lack of similarity between Gaffney and Belichick, EA Sports should be commended for adhering to the rules by not using his name or likeness.
Belichick, who is 71 years old, is entering his 24th season as the Patriots’ head coach with an impressive record of 262-108-0.
He has guided the team to nine AFC Championship victories and six Super Bowl triumphs.
