Harrison Butker was award-show-ready.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicker made a stylish appearance at the 2024 ESPY Awards, posing for pictures just two months after his controversial commencement speech comments went viral. For the occasion, Butker donned a cream-colored tuxedo jacket paired with pinstriped pants and black loafers, opting for a sockless look.
Butker attended the event in support of three nominations related to the Chiefs: Best Franchise in the NFL, Best NFL Player for Patrick Mahomes, and Best Athlete, also for Mahomes.

He was also in earshot of a joke Serena Williams made at his expense.
In May, Butker sparked headlines with his remarks during a commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas.
His comments on abortion, President Biden, and COVID-19 drew significant attention. Butker cautioned female graduates against “diabolical lies” they had been told, suggesting that many were most excited about their future marriages and the children they would have. He expressed that he was “beyond blessed” in his marriage, highlighting that his wife Isabelle finds the most fulfillment in her role as a “homemaker.”
Despite the backlash, Butker has maintained a public presence. He made several notable appearances this year, including a visit to the White House, where he and the rest of the Chiefs celebrated their consecutive Super Bowl win with President Biden.
Butker’s appearance at the ESPYs was another moment in the spotlight, showing his continued support for his team amid the controversy. As the Chiefs vie for multiple awards, Butker remains a visible figure, balancing his professional accomplishments with the scrutiny of his public statements.
