Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker had a poignant message for Americans following the shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
During a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Trump was targeted by a shooter who fired multiple shots, one of which struck him in the right ear. Remarkably, Trump managed to stand up and raise his fist in defiance, but a spectator was not as fortunate.
The shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was killed by a Secret Service sniper.

Amid the aftermath, Harrison Butker took to social media to address the nation. Following a recent controversy where tennis legend Serena Williams criticized him during the ESPYs, Butker returned to the spotlight with a solemn message on X/Twitter.
“Pray for our country,” Butker wrote in his first post since October.
The post garnered a range of reactions. Supporters expressed their gratitude and solidarity. “Praying for you too sir. Be strong,” one user replied. Another commented, “Thank you Harrison! We’re all praying for him – and for brave warriors like you.”
However, not all responses were supportive. Some users criticized the reliance on prayer alone, suggesting that action was also necessary. “Because prayers have always worked,” one commenter noted sarcastically. “News flash, they don’t. Everyone always offers up thoughts and prayers but not actually action. So yeah I guess prayers for the country because that will make it all better.”
The FBI continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As the nation grapples with this event, Butker’s call for prayer reflects a plea for unity and strength in turbulent times.
