“Home is where the heart is,” and for Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld, that sentiment leads them to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Buffalo.
Thanksgiving takes on a distinct perspective for NFL players like Josh Allen when compared to the rest of us. The holiday usually revolves around a series of marquee NFL matchups, leaving little room for players to assist with kitchen duties or family gatherings on Thanksgiving.
This year, the Buffalo Bills won’t have a Thanksgiving game on their schedule, affording the 27-year-old Allen the opportunity to play host to friends and family at his upstate New York residence, as he shared with PEOPLE.
“I’m hosting. It’s going to be good because I’ve actually just gotten into cooking quite a bit,” says the quarterback.
The NFL star says he wanted to pick up some culinary skills after watching Hulu’s popular restaurant-based drama The Bear.
“I just got so inspired after watching that. It was fricking…just so cool and I really enjoyed that show. It kind of jump-started something in me,” he says.
According to our source, Hailee, Allen’s girlfriend, will also be joining Josh and his family in Buffalo.

This year marks a special occasion for Allen as it will be the first time in quite a while that he’ll be able to savor Thanksgiving with family and friends. He notes that the Buffalo Bills have been involved in the NFL’s Thanksgiving games for three of the past four years.
The Firebaugh, California, native plans to host a select group of family and friends who will be in Buffalo for the holiday, including his girlfriend, with whom he is reportedly now residing.
When it comes to must-have dishes at the Allen family Thanksgiving gathering, the NFL star highlights mashed potatoes and gravy, accompanied by bread.
