Tom Brady is poised to assume the role currently held by Greg Olsen in the FOX broadcast booth for the upcoming season. Olsen, in a conversation with The Athletic’s Joseph Person and Richard Deitsch, conveyed a sense of awareness that his tenure as the lead analyst is drawing to a close.
The three-time Pro Bowler, serving as a full-time announcer at FOX since 2021, openly acknowledged that Brady’s eventual takeover was part of the plan from the outset.
Rather than bemoaning an early departure, Olsen expressed pride in the broadcast’s accomplishments during his tenure.

“We’ve been planning for that for two years. We knew when we took the job that Brady was there whenever he was going to decide to come,” Olsen explained to Person and Deitsch.
“But the one thing I will say is I’m damn proud of what we did for two years. I don’t know any crew — from [Kevin] Burkhardt to Erin [Andrews] and Tom [Rinaldi] to our producer, our whole truck — I don’t know if anyone produces a better football game than we do.” said Olsen.
Despite the widespread acclaim for the 38-year-old’s performance as FOX’s lead analyst, the entrance of a figure like Brady into the broadcasting arena means others must step aside.
While Olsen could potentially transition to FOX’s No. 2 analyst position, this move would likely entail a substantial reduction in salary. Speculation has also arisen about Olsen and Brady collaborating on game announcements in a three-man booth.
Olsen disclosed his intention to explore “an entire spectrum of opportunities” for the next season. The specific path he chooses, whether it involves staying with FOX or pursuing other ventures, remains uncertain.
