Although Greg Olsen will continue as an analyst for NFL broadcasts on Fox during the 2024 season, he will no longer hold the position of the network’s top analyst, as Tom Brady is set to assume that role.
Despite being displaced by Brady, Olsen expressed to Front Office Sports that his ambition to be the premier analyst in the league remains undiminished. In fact, the change has only intensified his determination. “My aspirations are still to be a No. 1 analyst, whether it’s at Fox or elsewhere,” Olsen stated in an interview with Owen Poindexter on FOS Today. “That will never change as long as I do this. I’m not just content to be there. I’m not just happy to have a seat. I want the top seat, and I want that wherever that opportunity allows. And I’ll never stop working for that—I feel more motivated for that now than ever.”
Acknowledging the unpredictability of life, Olsen conveyed respect for Brady’s achievements but didn’t hide his own desires. “Life sometimes is out of your control. Would I love to continue to be calling that team? Of course, who wouldn’t? But again, my respect for Tom, and what he’s accomplished and what he’s done, obviously speaks for itself,” Olsen remarked.
“But I’d be lying if I said—you know, I’d love to be that guy calling the Super Bowl this year. I think everybody would. My hunger, my approach, my aspirations, if anything, have just gotten stronger.”
Since retiring from the NFL in 2021, Olsen has quickly become a fan favorite for his insightful and easily digestible analysis.
Despite this success, Fox chose to elevate Brady to the top analyst spot following a high-profile contract signing, relegating Olsen to work alongside Joe Davis on the network’s “B-Team,” which reportedly comes with a significant pay reduction.
Olsen has navigated these professional shifts gracefully, making it clear that he does not see this as a permanent setback from achieving his goal of returning to the top analyst position.
