Comedian Jo Koy faced criticism for his Taylor Swift-themed joke at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. While hosting the awards show on short notice, Koy took a shot at the NFL for its frequent camera shots of Taylor Swift.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”
Following the roast, Koy acknowledged on Good Morning America on Monday that the joke was a bit odd and fell flat.
“I think it was the Taylor [Swift] one [that] was just a little flat… It was a weird joke, I guess,” he said on Good Morning America today. “But it was more on the NFL… I was trying to make fun of the NFL using cutaways and how the Globes didn’t have to do that. It was more of a jab toward the NFL, but it just didn’t come out that way.”

Swift appeared unamused by the joke, but she is expected to be back with the NFL this week, as the Chiefs host the Dolphins on Saturday night in a Wild Card game.
Taylor Swift graced the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, attending as her concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” received a nomination in the newly introduced category for cinematic and box office achievement. However, the award ultimately went to “Barbie.”
Despite the reaction, some argue that people are overreacting to a harmless joke.
