As the NFL Draft approaches, the New York Giants are emerging as a team to keep an eye on.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Giants are actively pursuing a trade for the No. 3 pick, currently held by the New England Patriots.
Their target appears to be North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.
“The #Giants have been trying to trade up to No. 3 with the #Patriots, with the belief being they want UNC QB Drake Maye,” Schultz noted, citing multiple league sources. “While it’s considered a long shot, New England is open to discussions.”

During his pre-draft interactions, Maye had high praise for the Giants’ coaching staff, particularly head coach Brian Daboll. “Meeting with Coach Daboll was great. I’m a big fan of his; he’s one of the best offensive minds,” Maye said. “It was just great getting to know those guys, Mr. Schoen too.”
The Giants’ interest in acquiring another quarterback comes as no surprise given the lackluster performance of the team under Daniel Jones. Maye, known for his strong arm and mobility, seems to be a good fit for Daboll’s offensive scheme, reminiscent of the success Daboll had with Josh Allen in Buffalo.
Securing Maye would require the Giants to present the Patriots with an irresistible offer, setting the stage for what could be one of the more dramatic moments of the draft.
