The New York Giants are making it clear that they do not consider it a compromise to potentially have Daniel Jones as their quarterback in 2024.
Giants General Manager Joe Schoen robustly defended Jones’ tenure with the team, highlighting his role in their recent playoff appearance. Schoen explained that the 2023 season was a challenging one where things did not go as planned, but emphasized Jones’ performance in 2022 as proof of his leadership capabilities.
“Looking back at the 2022 season, he was a 25-year-old who played excellently, secured 10 victories, and won a playoff game,” Schoen remarked. “I have strong confidence in Daniel, in his character, and in what he demonstrated to us in 2022.”

With the Giants positioned to pick sixth in the upcoming NFL Draft, they are not in an ideal spot to select one of the top quarterback prospects, though they are open to trading up if the right opportunity arises.
Despite this, the Giants have added Drew Lock to their roster and have not closed the door on drafting another quarterback, signaling some reservations about fully committing to Jones as their sole quarterback option.
Moreover, Jones is currently recovering from a torn ACL, adding another layer of complexity to the team’s quarterback situation.
