The Greek Freak taking his talents to the Lakers?
According to NBA writer Marc Stein, there is speculation about Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo potentially being interested in joining the Los Angeles Lakers after his tenure with the Bucks.
Stein also mentions the New York Knicks as another team that may attract Antetokounmpo’s attention.
Despite being unable to become a free agent until 2025, teams are already preparing for the opportunity to pursue the two-time MVP.
The Bucks currently have a first-year head coach and an aging supporting cast around Antetokounmpo, which may contribute to his potential desire to explore other options.
Antetokounmpo himself has hinted that he may not extend his contract with the Bucks if he disagrees with the team’s direction.
The Lakers have traditionally been an attractive destination for free agents and could have an advantage due to the fact that they previously had Antetokounmpo’s younger brother, Kostas, on their championship-winning roster in 2020.
However, the Lakers already have several long-term contracts in place, and Antetokounmpo may need to reconsider his previous reluctance to play in Los Angeles.
